Comparing Recyling data to show where NYC stands.
Overview
The 3 R’s: Repair and Revolve Recycling.
The main objective of this project is to compare NYC recycling rates to other cities across the U.S. The analysis and visualizations allow for a better understanding of how New York City recycles.

Within this project, I decided to look at datasets from 2 different capital cities/counties to compare New York City and its recycling. When choosing the locations, I was hoping to find one state that would have great recycling laws and one that is neighboring NYC so that we could accurate comparisons.

I decided to use Austin, Texas, and Trenton, New Jersey as my two locations. They were the perfect match that I was looking for, Texas having great laws and New Jersey being the neighboring state.

My hypothesis going into this project was:
"If NYC is able to hold up against a city like Austin, then we are doing great with our recycling programs because Austin is very successful with their recycling laws and implementation throughout their city."

I was able to use the OpenData variant for each state that I went to, as this was the most accessible and easy-to-use service provided to the public. They offered great visualization tools and helped me map out how I wanted to continue this project.
